Giving back to the community in Hoboken and Jersey City is one of The Hoboken Girl team’s core values, and as a whole, the entire The Local Girl team. Since our brand was founded in 2012, our team has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits throughout Hudson County and beyond. And in just one sandwich collaboration starting in March of 2024, to date, we’ve raised almost $10,000 for local non-profits in the area.
The Hoboken Girl Breakfast Sandwich is a collaboration between The Hoboken Girl team and Alessio’s Cafe, a locally-owned cafe that creates delicious Italian pizzas, wraps, and sandwiches along with Italy-sourced coffee and other treats. We created The Hoboken Girl sandwich last March in an effort to give back to the York Street Project, a Jersey City non-profit that helps unhoused individuals, during Women’s History Month. It started as one month, but due to popular demand, grew into a collaboration that has spanned for almost two years — and still going strong!

Just this November 2025, our team donated $3,250 to Hudson County CASA from sandwich proceeds, one dollar per sandwich donated to a local non-profit of our readers’ choosing. Hudson County CASA advocates for foster children in the Hudson County area, and we are thrilled to be able to donate directly to the amazing work they do for our communities.

All of this was made possible through The Hoboken Girl breakfast sandwich at Alessio’s, which raises money for different local nonprofits each quarter.
Other nonprofits our team has given back to through this collab include York Street Project and the Hoboken Public Education Foundation, where we raised over $3,000 for each non-profit.
Now through the end of 2025, our new charitable partner is The Flow Initiative, a Jersey City-based organization that fights to achieve menstrual equity. We have partnered with them in the past, but are excited to give back to them through our sandwich partnership.
The Hoboken Girl sandwich can be found at all of the Alessio’s locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Weehawken. The ingredients, for those ready to order: scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, avocado, homemade crispy hashbrowns, and jalapeno + avocado aioli, served on sourdough or as a wrap (both available gluten-free, but not Celiac-certified). And might we suggest adding bacon — it’s so good.
If you haven’t tried it yet, get to it! It’s delicious and gives back to local nonprofits, one sandwich at a time.
