The Historic Downtown Jersey City’s annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting ceremony has been rescheduled to Monday, December 1st. To usher in the winter holiday season, New Jersey is forecasted to see a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday, December 2nd, the original date of the celebration. The celebration will be held at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza located at 134-158 Newark Avenue. Read on for more details about the celebration and the new date.
About the Holiday Lighting
The holiday lighting celebration will still go on as originally planned with entertainment including caroling, a bounce house, cookies, and hot chocolate. The event will now be scheduled from 5:30PM-7PM on Monday, December 1st. The celebration will also include gifts from Santa, with a toy giveaway provided by the event’s sponsors. The celebration is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Jersey City Special Improvement District (HDSID), Smile pre-school + nursery, and Whole Spectrum Autism.
Tuesday’s Forecast
The celebration was initially set to take place on Tuesday, December 2nd, but was moved due to the inclement weather. Per NBC‘s Storm Team 4, northwest New Jersey could see between 5 and 8 inches of snow. Forecasting from The Weather Channel as of this publishing forecasts rain from 8AM to 5PM for Jersey City.
