Crumbl Cookies, a cookie bakery chain with locations in New Jersey, has recently announced that its Jersey City location has permanently closed. Crumbl Cookies in Jersey City Closed + What it Means

Crumbl Cookies is a nationally-known gourmet cookie brand that has over 1000 locations in the United States and North America. Aside from its US locations, there are also two Crumbl outposts in Puerto Rico. It is best known for its freshly-baked cookies, with flavors rotating weekly. The store has a lineup of six different cookies each week — options include tres leches cake, chocolate peanut butter pie, key lime pie cookie, semi-sweet chocolate chunk, chocolate cake batter, wafer featuring Kit Kat®, iced oatmeal, and cookie dough bites. The weekly specials have become a social media favorite, with discussion forums, fan sites, and reviews about the new and upcoming flavors. It has also been known for its numerous celebrity collabs and viral TikToks, so this news in Jersey City comes as somewhat of a surprise.

The Jersey City location at 318 Grove Street was widely anticipated: HG first reported on its opening in July 2024. It opened in February 2025. This marks less than a year of operation for the location, which opened in February of 2025.

As of January 3rd, 2026, the Grove Street location is now shuttered. Details on why the location closed are not available, but it aligns with a nationwide trend of Crumbl locations shutting down: locations in 11 states have closed recently. However, there are still several Crumbl locations for fans in the North Jersey and Jersey Shore areas, including Union, Clark, North Brunswick, and Holmdel. It’s worth noting this comes the same month as national, VC-backed chain Sprinkles Cupcakes announced its permanent closure of all stores.

There is no information on plans for the now-vacant space, but we will update this article as we receive more information.

Longtime fitness studio Local Barre has confirmed it will be relocating from its West Hoboken location in the Monroe Center to downtown. The barre-fitness studio and multi-purpose space located within the Monroe Center at 720 Monroe Street, Suite C300 has been operating there for the past few years exclusively. The studio’s owner shared directly with The Hoboken Girl team that it will be relocating downtown to 104 Hudson Street, which is currently occupied by another barre studio, Physique 57 — which LB is taking over.  Read on to learn more about Local Barre, Physique 57, and the upcoming Hoboken move.

The Relocation

Local Barre owners have confirmed with HG that the business as it currently stands will be leaving its location within the Monroe Center and moving into the Physique 57 space. Several readers reached out with information regarding the closure, noting Physique 57 had broken the news to them via their own channels.

The Hoboken Girl team reached out to Local Barre’s owners, Jen and Joe DeMarco, who shared, “This all happened very fast, during the holidays!”  The Local Barre team anticipates a February 1st, 2026 opening.

About Physique 57

Physique 57 opened in  bringing another barre studio to the Mile Square in January of 2023. The Physique 57 brand was founded by Tanya Becker and Jennifer Maanavi in 2005. Being the first barre-based fitness class to pop up in NYC, the team ran with the idea and jump-started a global business. Over the years, the duo has opened numerous studios all over the world, from Dubai to the newly opened location in Hoboken. Sadly, the Hoboken location is closing its doors and being acquired by Local Barre’s owners.

“In terms of instructor quality, class intensity, music, and results, I found the Physique 57 method to be the most effective and fun, ” Lily shared with The Hoboken Girl when the new studio opened at the time. “When the company started franchising, I saw the perfect opportunity to bring this wonderful workout to Hoboken, where I hope many others will share my passion.”

Physique 57 has closed several physical studio locations throughout the country over the last few years, particularly after pivoting during the pandemic to focus more on online content, with specific locations like Carmel, Indiana, and Philadelphia closing in early 2024 and early 2025 respectively, though they still offer extensive on-demand and online classes through their website. As a member, you can still access their workouts through their website. The Hoboken location will have its last classes on January 18th, 2026.

Local Barre’s Legacy

Local Barre first moved to Hoboken in 2010 with its initial location at 1180 Maxwell Place, which later closed during the pandemic, and its West Hoboken location became its flagship at the Monroe Center. A few years back, it launched its co-working space, complete with mini barre and childcare options. Owner Jen DeMarco shared that the downtown location would no longer have mini barre or daycare, but all other aspects of their fitness classes would be in tact, with some fun 2026 twists. It joins a ton of other local fitness businesses downtown, including DRIP,  Prime Cycle, Crunch, Barry’s, YogaRenew, Urban Souls, and more.

Plus, Something New Coming Soon…

The owners of Local Barre said not to fret if you’re a frequenter of their Monroe Center location; something exciting (and different) is likely coming to the OG Monroe Center space. They hinted it would be a unique, warmer (wink wink) addition to the fitness scene when announced. While it is not public yet what is next for the space in the Monroe Center, our team will be following closely and will share once we have confirmation!

26 Hoboken + Jersey City Women to Watch in 2026

The women of Hoboken and Jersey City continue to amaze us every year, and with 2026 bringing a fresh start, we at The Hoboken Girl wanted to highlight some of the area’s extra-special locals — as we’ve done for many years. From entrepreneurs to leaders of change, these women are beloved members of our community and are doing big things in 2026. Read on for our list of 26 Hoboken + Jersey City women to watch in 2026.

Jersey City Firefighters Rescue and Revive Dogs Trapped in House Fire

Jersey City firefighters responded to a working fire on Fremont Street, where multiple family dogs were trapped inside a smoke-filled home, and some were found unconscious. Per TapInto Jersey City, crews not only rescued the animals but also performed CPR and provided oxygen to successfully resuscitate them, and all appear to be recovering. One resident was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation treatment

Hoboken Agrees to Expand Affordable Housing Access in Discrimination Settlement

Hoboken has agreed to amend its affordable housing ordinance to expand access after a state investigation found its city-only residency preference may have disproportionately excluded applicants from surrounding, more diverse communities, potentially violating anti-discrimination law. Under the settlement with the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, the city will revert to a regional residency preference, provide relief to affected applicants, and invest additional funds in affordability and fair-housing efforts. The changes aim to improve equitable access to affordable housing and resolve complaints that the previous policy had discriminatory impacts, according to the Hudson County View.

TAPP Card Launches for PATH as MetroCard and SmartLink Phased Out

The classic yellow MetroCards will soon be a thing of the past for PATH commuters. In an effort to make commuting more accessible, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) launched a new payment card and vending machine system. Riders will be able to instantly reload the TAPP card and still tap and go when commuting on the PATH. MetroCards and SmartLink cards will be phased out later in 2026. Click here for more.

Liberty Prime Steakhouse Announces Closure in Jersey City

Liberty Prime Steakhouse has announced that it will be closing its doors after 15 years of business. The popular venue is located at 111 Montgomery Street in Jersey City. The restaurant announced its closure on social media, noting that operations will continue through the end of December. Click here for more.

New Jersey Lawmakers Propose Tax Breaks to Save New Jersey Diners

As The Local Girl has been watching closely, New Jersey diners have been increasingly closing their doors in recent years. The state’s iconic pre-fab restaurants were once a staple, but have begun limiting hours, menus, or closing down altogether. Earlier this month, New Jersey state lawmakers proposed a bill, the “Saving Our Diners and Protecting Our Past Act,” which would grant tax breaks for diners and other long-running restaurants in the state. Click here for more.

Long-Planned Urby Phase Two Project Advances in Downtown Jersey City

After years of planning and approval, the long-awaited second phase of the Urby development at 200 Greene Street in Jersey City is finally moving forward, with the surface parking lot closed and early site work beginning. According to Jersey Digs, the project, approved in 2024, calls for two 69-story towers with about 1,510 units, retail space, and amenities like a new pedestrian walkway and park space, though no affordable housing is included. The development’s first tower was recently rebranded as Sable following its sale, and the new phase is expected to reshape the waterfront skyline.

Inside Krayon Park, Jersey City’s New Indoor Gym + Playspace for Kids

A local Jersey City family is opening a new play space for children dedicated to screen-free play. Krayon Park on the second floor at 206 Van Vorst Street will be a dedicated playspace with multi-level climbing structures, ball pits, slides, obstacle courses, and plenty of special areas for imaginative play. Their grand opening is January 11th, 2026, but The Hoboken Girl got a sneak peek at the child-friendly playspace in Paulus Hook. Click here for more.

Yes, a Hilton Hotel is Still Coming to Hoboken; New Tax Credit Issued

After years of delays, the Hilton Hotel project slated for the Hoboken waterfront is inching towards a start. The plan for the hotel was announced in 2018, but years of litigation, project negotiations, COVID, and work with the City slowed progress. The proposed 20-story hotel will include ground-floor retail space, a lobby-level restaurant and bar, meeting and event spaces, and a rooftop bar and terrace. In November 2025, the project was awarded tax credits under a statewide program, which helped the project clear a financial hurdle. Click here for more.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla Vetoes Vote to Freeze CLEAR Program

A vote from the Hoboken City Council to temporarily freeze the CLEAR program will no longer take effect after outgoing Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla voted down the decision. On December 3, the Hoboken City Council voted to temporarily freeze the CLEAR program, the camera-based parking enforcement program, until January 15. Per Hudson County View, Mayor Bhalla vetoed the freeze on Friday, December 12th. Click here for more.
