Incontro Caffè, a community cafè serving fun beverages and breakfast items, is coming to the Journal Square area of Jersey City, with plans to open on Sunday, August 17th. Located at 351 Summit Avenue on the corner of Summit and Academy, this new spot will serve classic espresso-based and matcha drinks, pastries, plus gelato coming soon to the menu. The Details
Incontro’s grand opening will be on Sunday, August 17th, from 12PM-4PM, featuring live DJs, local small business pop-ups, as well as some specials and giveaways. The cafè will then be open regularly on weekdays from 7AM to 7PM, and weekends from 8AM to 4PM.

Incontro’s soft opening took place earlier this week, and early favorites are already emerging, like the crema di caffe (a frozen espresso slushy or granita) and the refreshing strawberry matcha latte.

Owner Sarah Gallazzi and her husband created Incontro to bring the community together in a welcoming, zen-inspired space. The interior is filled with warm, muted tones and a calm atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to visit for a delicious drink or pastry or for settling in to get some work done.
What sets Incontro apart is that it is a non-tipping establishment, as the owners shared with The Hoboken Girl that they believe in paying fair wages to all of the employees. Additionally, the cafè doesn’t charge extra for alternative milks or syrups, and every product is locally-sourced. Incontro’s coffee beans are sourced from Modcup, and the pastries are from Choc O Pain, two small businesses local to Jersey City.

Growing up in Milan, Italy, Sarah envisioned Incontro as a welcoming meeting place for the Jersey City community — a spot where people can connect and foster relationships while enjoying a great cup of coffee. Incontro means “encounter” in Italian, perfectly capturing the heart of her vision.
