There’s never a dull moment when it comes to new businesses in the Mile Square. Back in October 2024, signage was just spotted uptown near bwè kafe in Hoboken near 14th and Adams for a new bakeshop located at 404 14th Street. The awning in question was for Ivory Baking Co., which was already displayed outside of the location, the old Fruiti Fi smoothie shop (and previously, the old Two01 Hair location — now at 8th and Grand Street). The Details
According to its website, Ivory Baking Co. is a custom cakes, cookies, and cupcakes baking company with roots in Northern New Jersey that debuted in 2021. On its Instagram, designs of custom birthday and other event desserts abound — including a custom Coach cake for Megan Thee Stallion.

The Hoboken shop primarily provides custom orders and pre-order menu items — including cakes, cookies, and seasonal desserts — with limited retail hours and ready-to-go treats in the spring and summer, the owner previously shared with HG. In addition to its retail selection, Ivory Baking Co. is gearing up to host baking classes for kids and adults throughout the week.

“The cakes and desserts will have a lot of Asian inspiration in flavor and design,” the owner, Grace Hahn, previously shared with The Hoboken Girl. There are also a few allergen-friendly options, per its website: “Almost any item you see can be made gluten-free! However, we do not offer dairy-free or sugar-free at this time with the exception of baby-friendly smash cake.”

Ivory Baking Co. officially opened its doors in uptown Hoboken on the weekend of March 22nd and 23rd. The bakery provided a variety of cakes to taste and buy at its opening event.

This opening comes on the heels of several other new spots that opened in the past few months in the Hoboken and Jersey City area — The Bunny Hive, which is a new kids’ space uptown, as well as Julietta, a new gelato spot that recently made its debut on Washington Street. In Jersey City, Perquin opened a few months back, as well as Jerrell’s Burgers — which opened its new location in Jersey City after relocating from Hoboken. Downtown Jersey City has also seen B Bagels’ debut recently, along with two new co-working spaces, Narra Collective and &Co’s Hamilton Park location.
