For all the freelancers and coffee shop campers out there, finding a place to work after 5PM on any given day can be a real production. Even more so, finding a caffeinated beverage + a quaint coffee shop to sip it in after dinner time is a scavenger hunt in and of itself. Luckily, many Hoboken and Jersey City establishments have heard your cries for caffeine and made themselves readily available for late-night coffee consumers, some having sit-down options, and some just giving you an option to grab and go. Read on to discover the list of coffee shops that are open until at least 6PM in Hoboken + Jersey City.

Alfalfa | 92 Bloomfield Street, 1110 Washington Street, Hoboken + 160 1st Street, Jersey City
Hoboken location open until 8PM on weekdays; Jersey City location open until 8:30PM Monday-Thursday, 8PM on Friday
Predominantly a salad shop born originally in Hoboken (with a location now in Jersey City), Alfalfa is one of our favorites. It’s a cafe-style spot that isn’t your typical coffee shop WFH spot — that said, it does serve a slew of coffees and other caffeinated drinks. Try the matcha latte, and thank us later.
Bagels on the Hudson | 802 Washington Street
Open 24 hours
Hoboken’s only 24-hour bagel shop, Bagels on the Hudson has an array of bagels and toppings to serve any carb craving, day or night. Since we’re talking coffee, there’s also a DIY coffee station with the basics: cream, sugar, and some syrups. It’s no frills, but then again, most of the best things are.

A Hoboken favorite, Empire Tea + Coffee provides that caffeine fix to keep freelancers on point from morning to night. This long-standing gem has all of the vibes one needs to get the job done. There isn’t much seating, however, so this proves to be an issue — but the scent of coffee is elite here.

Open until 9:30PM M-Th, Fri 11PM, Sat 11PM, Sun 10PM
If gelato is more your speed (with a side of coffee), then Julietta’s is a fun spot to enjoy a night-coffee-cap. Newer to the cafe scene, it houses coffee and pastries but is even more known for its gelato as a draw. The space is adorably decorated to boot.
Mojo Coffee Company | 801 Bloomfield Street + 230 Willow Avenue
Open until 6PM
With two locations in the Mile Square, Mojo has become a certified coffee fixture in town. The Bloomfield location is open until 6PM (the Willow Avenue until 5:30PM), and has a WFH setup for any of our remote friends out there. Plenty of tables, outlets, and little treats for days.
Paris Baguette | 1000 Maxwell Lane
Open until 10PM daily
Paris Baguette is open later than most coffee shops in Hoboken, closing its doors by 10PM each night. One drawback is that the baristas usually ask patrons to clear the dining area by 9:30PM, but before that — there’s good WiFi and lots of tables and chairs.
Forum Coffee | 123 Washington Street, + 1400 Washington Uptown
Open until 8:30PM
Having recently taken over Pour Amour’s location on Washington downtown, Forum is a small space but is open till 8:30PM on weekdays. Its uptown location is in the works, and will be housed inside of the former Juice Press.

Jersey City
Butler Café | 350 Warren Street

“Strong Coffee and Tasty Treats” is Butler Cafe’s motto, and it is spot-on. Butler Cafe keeps its doors open until 8PM. Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and hit the books.
Creme Brewtique | 558 West Side Avenue
Open until 8PM Monday-Thursday, 9PM Friday-Sunday
This woman-owned cafe opened in May 2023, and the interior is a visual treat itself, with its candy-colored hues across the walls, whimsical Alice in Wonderland-themed table tops, and a gorgeous floral backdrop with pink velvet chairs. On the menu, caffeine fiends can find a decadent selection of coffees (think white chocolate mocha with edible glitter) and bubble teas.
City Cafe + Grill | 2800 John F. Kennedy Boulevard
Open until 12AM
This spot located in Journal Square has a great selection of bagels, pastries, and coffee, but it recently rebranded to feature lunch + dinner items on its menu, too. The staff is friendly and it’s a nice low-key spot to get some work done.

Dunkin Donuts | Multiple Locations
Open 24 hours + until 9PM
Although a chain, Dunkin Donuts is another 24-hour option that does not disappoint. Pop in for a classic coffee + doughnut combo – we’re fans of a good ol’ fashioned glazed doughnut. Grab a cold brew to-go or take a seat for a late-night nibble or breakfast.
7-Eleven | Multiple Locations
Open 24 hours
While not the most glamorous of options, and definitely not a sit-down option, 7-Eleven coffee gets the job done at all hours of the day. Whether it’s 2PM and you’re out for a midday pick-me-up, or it’s 2AM and you’re stumbling in for that extra shot of Joe to keep you going, you’ll never be without your caffeine fix.
