One of the best parts about summer in Hudson County is the incredible amount of free, family-friendly things to do. A classic summer activity is to enjoy a movie under the stars – just bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on, and you’re good to go. The City of Hoboken, Hudson County Parks, and the City of Jersey City have all announced their Summer 2025 Movies Under the Stars schedules. All, of course, is weather permitting. Read on for more about what to expect.
City of Hoboken
Movies Under the Stars will take place on Wednesdays beginning on June 18th at various locations. All movies begin at 9PM (Rain Date: August 27th). Bring a picnic basket, blanket, or a low-back chair. On-screen subtitles will be provided upon request.

June 18: Crooklyn – Pier A
Portrait of a close-knit black family living in 1970s Brooklyn, as seen through the eyes of the youngest daughter. This comedy-drama follows them as they deal with money woes, eccentric neighbors, and their sons’ troublemaking. Rated PG-13.
June 25: To Wong Foo – Pier A
Three New York drag queens travel cross-country on their way to Hollywood, but a broken-down car strands them in a narrow-minded Midwestern town, where they teach the locals a lesson in acceptance, and learn a few things themselves along the way. Rated PG-13.
July 9: Le Mans – Pier A (rain date July 14)
Bring your passion for performance and classic Porsches and join us for a night under the stars at Porsche Englewood’s exclusive car show. The event will run from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, followed by a screening of the 1971 Steve McQueen racing classic Le Mans. Proudly sponsored by Porsche Englewood. Rated G.
July 16: Selena – Pier A
Biographical drama charting the extraordinary career and tragic death of pop singing sensation Selena as her career transcended the Tejano scene, launching her into crossover, mainstream success. Rated PG. (with Colavita Pizza Truck)
July 23: Clueless – ResilienCity Park
A posh Beverly Hills high school’s most popular student does her best to survive the ups and downs of adolescence. Taking a new student from the East Coast under her wing, Cher uses her social connections to try to find her a boyfriend. Rated PG-13. (with Colavita Pizza Truck)
July 30: Dirty Dancing – Resiliency Park
An innocent teen vacationing with her upper-middle-class parents at a resort in the 1960s Catskills gets a jolt of culture shock when she crushes on the hotel’s slick, handsome dance instructor. The soundtrack yielded the Oscar-winning Best Song “(I’ve Had the) Time of My Life.” Rated PG-13.
Aug. 6: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – Pier A
A charismatic high-school student convinces his repressed best friend to play hooky with him and his girlfriend and attempts to bring the young man out of his shell during a memorable day in Chicago. Rated PG-13. (with Colavita Pizza Truck)
Aug. 13: Downton Abbey – Pier A
A royal visit from the King and Queen of England soon unleashes scandal, romance, and intrigue, leaving the future of Downton hanging in the balance in this 2019 follow-up to the beloved series. Rated PG. In partnership with Focus Features, Return to Downton Abbey before the Grand Finale!
Aug. 27: Downton Abbey: A New Era – Pier A
The Crawleys go on a grand journey to the south of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa in the 2022 sequel. Rated PG. In partnership with Focus Features, Return to Downton Abbey before the Grand Finale!
Experience the motion picture event in theaters on September 12th.
