2025 Día De Muertos Events in New Jersey

Also referred to as Día de los Muertos, Día de Muertos is the Mexico-born holiday celebrating the souls of those we have lost. The holiday, also known as Day of the Dead, takes place on November 1st and 2nd. The celebration has origins in Indigenous Mexican traditions and the Catholic holidays, All Souls Day and All Saints Day. Read on for a list of Día de Muertos celebrations throughout New Jersey.

Bergen County

Día de los Muertos Family Fiesta | 116 East Century Road, Paramus

Saturday, November 1st | 11AM-11:45AM

Paramus Public Library will be hosting a Día de los Muertos celebration at its Main Branch location welcoming families with children ages four to grade four. The event will have refreshments, stories, and crafts. The event is free to attend, but requires registration. Find more information about the event here.

Día de los Muertos Community Festival + Celebration | Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair

Friday, October 31st – Sunday, November 2nd 

Latinos of Montclair will be hosting a three-day celebration for Día de los Muertos at the newly renovated Lackawanna Plaza. The festival will include a mercadito of over 70 artisans and food vendors, performances, family-friendly experiences, and New Jersey’s largest community altar. The community altar is designed by local Mexican artist and entrepreneur Lilia Rios, who owns La Providencia. More information about the event and ticketing options can be found here

Hoboken Day of the Dead Bar Crawl | 221 Washington Street, Hoboken 

Saturday, November 1st from 4PM-10PM

Pub Crawls will be hosting a Día de Muertos bar crawl at several bars throughout Hoboken on Saturday, starting at Madd Hatter. The bar crawl will include stops at Tally Ho, The Hoboken Biergarten, and more. Tickets to the event can be purchased here

The Riverview Farmers Market will host its 11th annual Day of the Dead celebration from 10/30 – 11/2. The event will take place at Riveriew-Fisk Park, and will include a giant skeleton puppet parade, mariachi, local vendors, and a community ofrenda. To celebrate Día de los Muertos and honor loved ones who have passed.

The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s: Day of the Dead Resurrection Party | 345 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City

Saturday, November 1st | 3:30PM

The organizers behind the annual Ghost of Uncle Joe’s festival at Harsimus Cemetery will be presenting a Day of the Dead party at Art House. The event will feature local musicians. Find more information about the event here.

Hunterdon Art Museum Day of the Dead Celebration 2025 | 7 Lower Center Street, Clinton

Saturday, November 1st | 6PM

The Hunterdon Art Museum will be hosting a free event celebrating Día de los Muertos, celebrating with music, art, and cultural appreciation. The celebration will include a live mariachi band, folklore dancers, art activities, face painting, an ArtBar with adult and kid-friendly beverages, food trucks, and an altar honoring Mexican artists.  Find more information on the event here

Día de los Muertos Asbury Park | 1300 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park

Saturday, November 1st | 4PM-7PM

Asbury Park will be hosting its 3rd annual Día de los Muertos event on Saturday, November 1st. The event will begin at Convention Hall on the boardwalk and end at the Casino. The celebration will include face-painting, mariachi music, altars or ofrendas, and prizes. The event is described as family and dog-friendly. Find more information about the event here.
