One of Hudson County’s favorite seasonal traditions will return on Friday, November 21st. Newport Skates, an outdoor skating rink located at 95 River Drive South, will reopen in Jersey City. The rink has skyline views of Manhattan, skate rentals, and lessons for skaters of all ages. Read on for more about the Newpork Skates.
About the Rink
Newport Skates is Jersey City’s only outdoor skating rink. It will celebrate its seasonal opening on Friday, November 21st, at 4PM, with public skating open immediately after the ceremony.
This season marks an exciting year of new management and enhanced offerings. Visitors can look forward to expanded programming, including youth lessons, themed skate nights, improved amenities, and flexible options for birthday parties and group reservations for schools, companies, and community organizations.

Plan Your Visit
The rink is open November 22, 2025 – March 12, 2026, and the schedule is weather-dependent. Skaters are encouraged to check the rink’s social media and website for daily updates. For parking, go to River Market Garage, located at 20 North Boulevard.

Admission is $13 per skater, and a season pass is $150 (does not include skate rentals). Skate rentals and other equipment are available for rental on site. Skate Rental is $7; Skate Aids are $10/hr; and Helmet Rental is $5.<
The rink’s hours are typically Monday–Thursday: 4 PM–9 PM; Friday: 4 PM–10 PM; Saturday: 11AM–10 PM; Sunday: 11 AM–7 PM. There are varied hours for holidays and special events, listed below:

Friday 11/29 – Black Friday: 11 AM–10 PM
Monday 12/23 – JCPS Winter Recess: 11 AM–10 PM
Tuesday 12/24 – Christmas Eve: 11 AM–4 PM
Wednesday 12/25 – Christmas Day: 1 PM–10 PM
Thursday 12/26–Fri 12/27 – JCPS Winter Recess: 11 AM–10 PM
Monday 12/30 – JCPS Winter Recess: 11 AM–10 PM<
Tuesday 12/31 – New Year’s Eve: 11 AM–10 PM
Wednesday 1/1 – New Year’s Day: 11 AM–9 PM
Monday 1/20 – MLK Jr. Day: 11 AM–9 PM
Monday 2/17 – Presidents Day: 11 AM–9 PM
The rink can also be rented out for private events and birthday parties.
Skating lessons are also available at Newport Rink, provided by Fireworks Skating Academy. Group Lessons are 30 minutes long on Saturdays and Sundays at 10AM. The cost is $35, which includes skate rental and admission to the rink after the lesson. Private and semi-private lessons are available.
