Lucky for us, here in Hoboken + Jersey City, local cafes and eateries definitely got the memo when it comes to some of the most interesting matcha-related menu items around. With dozens of creative matcha treats that span beyond just the typical latte (we’re talking pastries, ice cream, and even pancakes), we’ve put together a list of places in the area that have noteworthy flavors for all of our matcha lovers out there. Hoboken
Baking Mama | 88 Hudson Street
Family-owned, small-batch bakeshop, Baking Mama, has shared a multitude of well-loved treats with the Hoboken community over the years. In a recent cookie rotation, we spotted a Matcha Ube Cookie and a Matcha White Chocolate Chip Cookie that look irresistible.

Cafe Vista | 527 Monroe Street
Recently, the team at Cafe Vista debuted two matcha creations that have our attention. First, a Matcha Brownie that is as green as your favorite matcha latte, and second, an Iced Strawberry Matcha with a sweet, tangy, and refreshing twist with a touch of pink.
Forum Coffee | 123 Washington Street
Forum Coffee’s Matcha Cloud Latte has taken the local internet scene by storm. We first heard about this coveted menu item on social media and ran to try it for ourselves. The consensus: an absolute 11/10. The cloud of matcha cold foam sits atop an icy and refreshing pour of coconut water for a unique combination. It’s not too coconutty and not too milky; it’s a perfect in-between, not to mention nice and hydrating, thanks to the coconut water.
Haraz Coffee House | 89 Hudson Street

Haraz Coffee House opened in Hoboken earlier this year and is a great work-from-home hangout. Aside from a long list of espresso drinks, its matcha menu is hard to beat. With matcha latte flavors such as lavender, dragonfruit, coconut, strawberry, and mango, locals are sure to get their fix here. Another eye-catching creation has to be the Matcha Booster for those who need a major caffeine boost. This drink consists of Haraz’s signature matcha mix and Red Bull.
Hidden Grounds Chai + Coffee House | 700 Garden Street

Hidden Grounds Chai + Coffee House is now serving a Rose Matcha Elixir with a soft rose concoction mixed with earthy matcha and a creamy finish (with milk of your choice). The gorgeous drink was described on the coffee house’s Instagram as “living proof that beauty and taste can coexist.”

Matcha shines not only in a beverage but in a dessert, too. Mochitori in Hoboken serves sweet and fluffy Mochi Donuts that come in various flavors, including a matcha version. While you’re at it, grab a matcha bubble tea to have a full-on matcha-loving experience.
Jersey City
Belle Âme Cafe | 76 Cottage Street
Belle Âme Cafe in Journal Square knows how to deliver when it comes to some matcha magic. The team here has created a Matcha Black Sesame Latte and Ube Matcha Latte (with coconut cold foam) that are both *chef’s kiss*.
Butler Cafe | 12 Coles Street + 350 Warren Street

Pistachio and matcha sound like a match made in heaven. Butler Cafe, located inside Maxwell Alley in Downtown Jersey City, has a matcha latte (served hot or iced) made with creamy and nutty pistachio milk, a not-so-typical plant-based milk pairing.

The Cafe Presented by Almost Home is serving an Insta-worthy Rose Bud Matcha. The drink features A1 Pinnacle Matcha with rose syrup and rose petals, completed with the customer’s milk of choice. This creation boasts floral and earthy tones and can be served hot or iced.
Daily Provisions | 132 Bay Street
A star amongst the menu of top-notch items at Daily Provisions has to be the Matcha Lemonade. Unlike the usual matcha lemonades, Daily Provisions makes its matcha lemonade with house-made lemon sherbet, which blends perfectly with the sharp, yet refreshing hint of matcha green tea. Ideal for those days when a latte is just too heavy. This drink is light, refreshing, tangy, and not too sweet.

Fluffy Fluffy Go in the Newport Mall has tons of matcha-related treats to try. Some standouts are the Matcha Strawberry Soufflé Pancake, Matcha Mango Latte, and Matcha Tiramisu. The dessert-style soufflé pancakes here are cloud-like and airy, and topped with sweet treats.

If you’ve ever Googled “matcha in Jersey City”, chances are Jane’s Matcha has made it to the top of your search list. Jane’s eye-catching creations. Jane frequently pops up at local Jersey City businesses to share her hand-crafted matcha treats with the community. As of late, you can find her at The Alps in Jersey City Heights on Thursdays and Fridays from 7AM – 1PM, and at the Riverview Farmers Market on Sundays from 10AM – 2PM. Jersey + Co. Gelato on the West Side of Jersey City serves handcrafted gelato made in small batches. The talented team has a refreshing matcha-flavored gelato and bold green Matcha Tiramisu. If a treat in liquid form is more your speed, opt for a matcha bubble tea.
Lackawanna Coffee | 140 Bay Street, 295 Grove Street + 325 Warren Street
Lackawanna Coffee is a Jersey City favorite. The standard matcha latte here is always on point and consistently delicious, but the new seasonal matcha has caught our eye. Those feeling a little adventurous can indulge in a Zesty Matcha, which consists of matcha, lemon oil, lemon foam, and your milk of choice. While this is a seasonal item, our friendly neighborhood Lackawanna barista let us know this one is likely to stay on an extended rotation for a while longer. Customers can also try a Matcha Loaf (in rotation on the weekends) supplied by Panaderya Salvaje.
Milk Sugar Love | 19 McWilliams Place
Milk Sugar Love’s Matcha Cookie ice cream is a matcha lover’s dream. The bright green ice cream is infused with chunks of Milk Sugar Love’s very own handmade chocolate cream-filled cookies. It’s a perfect combination of flavors that reminds us of cookies and cream ice cream, but with a matcha-y twist.
