50 Years of Family-Owned

The Hoboken Beer & Soda Outlet isn’t just a business — it’s a family legacy shaped by hard work, community ties, and deeply rooted family values.

The warehouse was founded in 1975 by Joe and Ann Mignoli, who had a vision for something new and unique. Joe’s dad (Joe Sr.) and his grandfather had been in the beverage business in the 50s through the 80s, manufacturing their own soda that was delivered daily to Hudson County residents. As their business continued to grow, they noticed a gap in the market and had an idea to fill it.

Creating Hudson County’s first and only drive-thru beverage outlet was no small feat. In 1975, Joe and Ann Mignoli originally opened shop at 551 Observer Highway, which is now The Skyline building, before moving across the street to its current location at 559 Newark Street. The outlet is currently owned by Joe Mignoli Jr., son of the original owners, and his wife, Tery.

Joe Jr. spent a lot of time at the store, learning the ins and outs of the warehouse and daily operations, so when his father retired in 1998, he was ready to jump in and continue the family business. Over the years, many family members have contributed to the success of the business, including Joe’s sister Lisa and brother Steve. Joe also credits his wife, Tery, who has been by his side for the last 36 years (43 if you count all of their years together).

Joe’s son, Joey, has also been crucial to the shop, especially during COVID-19. “I wish to thank my son, Joey – that’s right, another Joe,” he shared. “He assisted us tremendously during the COVID pandemic. We were struck very hard at its onset. Joey made many suggestions on how to navigate the unprecedented times, and through these efforts, unwavering dedication, and commitment, we were able to recover and come out even stronger.”

Since then, the warehouse has grown to fifteen full-time employees and remains committed to the original mission: “To serve our community with quality service by offering a convenient drive-thru experience accompanied with exceptional personal service.” The team works tirelessly to provide beverages to the general public and local businesses in the area, all at affordable warehouse pricing.

The Mignoli family is so grateful for the Hoboken, Jersey City, and North Hudson communities that have supported the outlet from day one.

Not Just for Restaurants

A common misconception about Hoboken Beer & Soda Outlet is that it’s exclusively for restaurants and bars, but that is not the case.

The drive-thru building was built to sustain Hoboken’s less-than-ideal parking situation, allowing locals to drive through one door, pick their items, pay, and leave through another door. No car? No problem: you can even walk or bike through the warehouse and place your order.

As if that is not easy enough, the Hoboken Beer & Soda Outlet team will collect items and load them into the car, making for one quick trip in and out. All you have to do is find someone to help you unload at your own home. PS: If you live in Hoboken or Jersey City, home delivery is available.

The store’s inventory is stocked with brand-name beverages, local beers, hard seltzers, sodas, bottles and jugs of water, kegs, as well as CO2, mixed, and nitrogen gas cylinders.
