Wednesday, October 22nd — WomenRising’s Celebration of Service Gala at Liberty House | 76 Audrey Zapp Drive, Jersey City
The Celebration of Service Gala, taking place on October 22nd from 6PM to 9PM, is WomenRising‘s largest fundraiser of the year. Registration and volunteer details have yet to be announced. Those looking to give back can stay updated at this link.

Saturday, October 25th — The Hoboken Shelter’s HoBOOken 5K Race | Pier A, Hoboken
The Hoboken Shelter’s annual HoBOOken 5k Race kicks off with an adult 5K at 10AM and Scary Scurry Kids’ Run at 11AM on October 25th. Along with participating as a runner, locals can give back by enrolling in the Run Miles for Meals Contest, which “raises nearly $100,000 [each year] to keep the most vulnerable members of our community fed, safe, and on their way to a stable home of their own,” according to its website. This contest is open to both runners and non-runners. Learn more here.
Tuesday, October 28th — Personal Care Pantry Distribution at Hoboken Community Center | 1301 Washington Street, Hoboken
Once a month, the Hoboken Community Center distributes non-food items, including diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, hygiene products, adult diapers, menstrual supplies, and more, to those in need. Upcoming volunteer dates this fall include September 23rd and October 28th. To learn more, see here.
Saturday, November 1st – Thursday, November 2oth — WomenRising’s Holiday Food Drive | 270 Fairmount Avenue, Jersey City
Taking place from November 1st to November 20th, WomenRising’s Holiday Food Drive is an opportunity for residents to donate food items to families in need. Specific details have yet to be announced, but the organization will seek canned and dried food donations during this time. For future information, see here.
Thursday, November 13th — Fund for a Better Waterfront’s Connect the Waterfront | TBD
Connect the Waterfront is an annual fundraising party for the Fund for a Better Waterfront. Details for this year’s event have yet to be posted. For future announcements, see this link.
Thursday, November 2oth – Monday, December 15th — WomenRising’s Holiday Toy + Gift Drive | 270 Fairmount Avenue, Jersey City

Boys + Girls Club of Hudson County | 225 Morris Boulevard, Jersey City
The Boys + Girls Club of Hudson County has been serving the community for decades. The organization consistently requires volunteers to support the development of emotional, academic, behavioral, and social skills in children from grades K-12. Community Lifestyle is a non-profit organization in Hoboken whose mission is to promote prosocial friendships and strong interpersonal skills and to foster a sense of hope for the future. Computers 4 People | 321 Newark Street, Hoboken
Computers 4 People collects, refurbishes, and donates computers to individuals and organizations in need. Volunteers skilled in tech refurbishing are always needed to help repair old devices and assist with inventory and sorting incoming donations, including wires and other materials. Dvine Konektion | 611 56th Street, West New York
Dvine Konektion food pantry receives monthly deliveries of food and personal care items. Volunteers are needed to set up the space, arrange tables, carry heavy items, and organize the space for food distribution. Volunteers must be 16 or older and are encouraged to dress comfortably. Friends of Ferris Triangle Park | 247 Old Bergen Road, Jersey City
Friends of Ferris Triangle Park oversees several free, fun-focused events with one goal: to bring neighbors closer together and create a safe space for children and families. The organization also works diligently to maintain the park’s cleanliness and freshness by weeding, gardening, removing trash, and hosting family-friendly events. Friends of Ferris Triangle Park is always looking for volunteers to help bag + distribute groceries for its food pantry, tutor students, and assist with distributing baby items for North Porch. Hoboken Family Alliance is a 100% volunteer-driven organization and one of the oldest non-profits in Hoboken. This nonprofit is behind many beloved community events, including the Cabin Fever Festival and Mutzfest. Hudson County CASA | 442 Hoboken Avenue, Jersey City
Hudson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) regularly seeks committed volunteers. Those involved connect with children living in the foster care system in Hudson County through monthly visits with the assigned child, their teachers, social workers, and other important people in the child’s life. Volunteers must be 21 years or older and commit to their duties until the case is closed, which typically takes about one year. Volunteers must complete an application and a 30-hour training course. The Hoboken Shelter | 300 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken
The Hoboken Shelter provides resources to hundreds of people each week. Volunteers are needed throughout the day to assist with cooking and serving food to guests in the newly renovated kitchen. The Shelter accepts individual volunteers or groups, including corporate community service outings. Volunteers are needed at Let’s Celebrate to help clients shop during bi-weekly free-choice pantry hours, serve lunch, and provide translation services. Volunteers are typically asked to assist guests in selecting items, retrieve products from higher shelves, serve meals, translate Arabic, and transport heavy bags. Love Thy Neighbor | 106-8 Atlantic Street, Jersey City
Love Thy Neighbor hosts a monthly food and clothing distribution at the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Jersey City. Volunteers are needed early in the day to assist with station monitoring, distributing food limits to guests, and managing the line. Matthew Trinity Lunchtime Ministry | 8th + Hudson Streets, Hoboken
St. Matthew Trinity Lunchtime Ministry serves hot, nourishing meals to over 70 guests every Monday through Thursday. The program is made possible by donations from local food establishments and volunteers. Volunteers are needed from 8AM to 12PM to set up and serve lunch and fellowship with guests. Tasks may also include sorting donations and cleaning the lunch space. Volunteers can come for any length of time during the four hours of the program. To learn more, click here.
The Open Door NJNY | 5017 Boulevard East, West New York
The Open Door NJNY works to strengthen immigrant families by providing resources to the community. Once the required training is completed, volunteers are needed to provide educational resources to guests. Teaching needs include math, computers, and ESL. The Temple Beth-El Pantry opens its doors to individuals needing non-perishable goods weekly. Volunteers must be 14 or older to help organize food, distribute food to the pantry, and prepare bags for the following week’s distribution. Wise Animal Rescue is a North Jersey-based animal rescue that has fosters and volunteers throughout the Tri-State area.
