The Hoboken and Jersey City coffee scene has expanded more rapidly than ever. Over 40 shops are currently open in Hoboken, which only spans one square mile, and The Hoboken Girl is here to confirm yet another spot in the works. In spring 2025, signage for Saoco Cafe was spotted at 601 Jefferson Street in Hoboken. The Cafe held its soft opening on December 20th, 2025 and its official first day was January 5th, 2026. The Details
The signage for Saoco went up at 601 Jefferson Street in April 2025. Saoco is the first opening in 2026 to Hoboken’s growing coffee scene. Per HG’s reporting, with over 57,000 residents per the 2023 Census and housing Stevens Tech students and faculty within its bounds, Hoboken ranks as one of the most densely populated cities in the United States. From this lens, that equates to roughly one coffee shop per 3.75 blocks.

Coffee shops are for sure having a moment in Hoboken. The term ‘coffee shop’ is even a bit of a misnomer since many of these spots serve so much more than brew. Sandwiches, pastries, teas, smoothies, and more can be found on menus.

Coffee shops are also becoming a new ‘third space’ for people to spend time in, outside of work and home. With as many coffee shops as there are in town, there’s definitely a coffee shop to fit your vibe.
