Hoboken is already full of incredible coffee shops, but here at The Hoboken Girl, we always welcome another addition. Back in July 2024, local java staple Hidden Grounds announced the closure of its downtown location at 79 Hudson Street. Now, a new Korean café and bakery has taken over the space. A construction permit was spotted on the door on Tuesday, February 25th for a cafe/bakery shop, and a worker confirmed with HG that Blue Angel Artisan Cafe + Bakery would be opening its second Hudson County location there. As of May 20th, the paper in the windows came down as the new coffee spot took steps towards opening. The Details
A member of the HG team spotted a construction permit on the door of 79 Hudson Street in Hoboken — the former downtown Hidden Grounds location — on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. The construction permit was issued on November 25th, 2024, and states that the construction is “interior renovation of commercial space (A) as a cafe/bakery shop.”

A worker then confirmed with HG that the empty storefront would soon be home to Blue Angel — a Korean cafe and bakery.
As of May 20th, the paper in the windows came down as the new coffee spot took steps towards opening.
The Blue Angel team shared with HG this week that the spot is officially in its soft opening stages as of Tuesday, June 10th.

Blue Angel is a Korean artisan café + bakery based out of Fort Lee, New Jersey. The Fort Lee storefront is located at 1640 Schlosser Street Suite C2 while the Hoboken storefront is its second Hudson County location.
