The finalists for the Best of Hoboken + Jersey City 2025 Guide are in! Thank you to everyone who nominated local businesses and people in Hoboken + Jersey City to receive the recognition that they deserve. Those who received the most nominations in each category advanced to the top three finalists, so before anyone says so-and-so was robbed, remember: we make the rules, we don’t pick the finalists.

***VOTING FOR 2025 BEST OF HOBOKEN & JERSEY CITY IS NOW CLOSED

How to Vote

Readers and community members are the reason these businesses are so successful so now it’s your chance to vote for your favorites. You can vote once per day in all categories, now through Sunday, December 7th at 11:59PM.  That’s it — we’ll do the tallying from there! The winners will be announced in mid-December once the categories are tallied.

Finalists will win a decal sticker to display on their storefronts and accolades on our website for all to see in the new year.

***By submitting your email, you agree to receive marketing communications from TheHobokenGirl.com.

local hoboken businesses list

Living in Hoboken, we see stores open and close on a regular basis. Given that frequency, we realize it’s important now more than ever to support the ones that remain. We’ve had many, many questions from readers asking how they can support the local businesses that stand, and we have one simple answer — be a customer! Instead of buying sneakers on Amazon, head to Fleet Feet. Instead of getting Fresh Direct, head to Organic Basic Food or one of the other local grocery stores in town. Buy your coffee locally. There are still a ton of local businesses to support, and to make it easier for you, we’ve come up with a relatively comprehensive list of them, separated by category. All are brick-and-mortar and locally owned. See below for our list of Hoboken businesses to support every day.

Disclaimer: We came up with this list based on knowledge and research and are sure we will have many to add. No business was forgotten on purpose, so please let us know by emailing hello@hobokengirl.com if we missed any and we will add in ASAP!

Pizza is probably the most kid-friendly food on Earth. At Grimaldi’s, kids can get their pizza fix while parents enjoy a range of salads, appetizers, pasta, beer, and wine. It’s a win for everyone. This restaurant also has gluten-free options and is stroller-friendly, a huge plus for those who have younger children.

Johnny Pepperoni | 219 11th Street

Johnny Pepperoni has a kid-friendly menu with meals like pasta with a choice of butter or marinara, meatballs, and chicken fingers with french fries. Also on the menu is pizza, the way to every child’s heart. The atmosphere is also super fun, with bright red chairs and a neon sign that reads, “You Wanna Pizza Me?”

Johnny Rockets | 134 Washington Street

Johnny Rockets is on our list of stroller-friendly restaurants, allowing families to roll right up to the table with their little ones. The menu is kid-friendly as well, with options like chicken tenders, hot dogs, mini burgers, and, of course, milkshakes.

Leo’s is a family-friendly Italian restaurant that has been serving Hoboken for over 80 years. From adorable mini bar pies (including heart-shaped ones for Valentine’s Day) to mozzarella sticks and some of the best pasta in town, there are plenty of options to keep little tummies full. There are also high chairs available for younger children. The vibes at Leo’s are very friendly and welcoming.

Another family-friendly restaurant in Hoboken is Margherita’s. This Italian restaurant makes homemade pasta, homemade mozzarella, and fresh pizza. Each dish is made to order and its menu has a wide selection of salads, appetizers, and entrees. Those with dietary restrictions can substitute any pasta dish for whole wheat or gluten-free pasta.
