Bourke Street Bakery Closes Jersey City Location; O’Kafe Taking Over the Space

Liberty Psychological Services

A Hamilton Park coffee shop is making its way further downtown in Jersey City, while an Australian bakery is closing its doors. Local coffee shop O’Kafe is growing, announcing plans to expand to a second location at 351 Marin Boulevard and serve more of its signature coffee and smiles. The small business will be taking over the space that was home to  Bourke Street Bakery (and its sourdough bread) for nearly two years. Read on to learn what we know about Bourke Street Bakery’s closure and when to expect O’Kafe to open its new space.

Bourke Street Bakery

The Australian bakery Bourke Street Bakery opened in The Hendrix apartment building at 331 Marin Boulevard in December 2023. It began as a small neighborhood cafe on Bourke Street in Sydney, Australia. It expanded all the way to New York City, with the first Manhattan location opening in 2019. The bakery was known for serving organic sourdough, sausage rolls, and flaky croissants. The owner even relocated to New York to keep the menu fresh by milling flour and making cheese for the bakery. As of December 2025, all other Bourke Street Bakery locations in New York City remain open.

Per the Google listing for the space, the bakery is permanently closed. The Hoboken Girl reached out to Bourke Street Bakery for comment and will provide an update when we hear back.

O’Kafe

O’Kafe has been part of the Hamilton Park neighborhood since 2018, located at 230 Pavonia Avenue. The cafe is a favorite for Jersey City locals, serving coffee, tea, pastries, and other breakfast and lunch foods. The menu also has plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. It’s typically full of families caffeinating before the work day, students stopping in for a quick bite, and remote workers typing away at their laptops with an iced tea. The coffee shop is open from 6:30AM to 6PM Monday through Friday, and 7AM to 6PM on Saturday and Sunday.

According to an Instagram post from O’Kafe, the second location is planned to open in December 2025. The caption reads, “7 years ago, November 2018, O’Kafe Hamilton Park started. December 2025, a dream comes true with everyone’s support + love. You all made this happen.” Signage is already up outside The Hendrix with the same O’Kafe logo that sits above the door at the Hamilton Park location.

O’Kafe shared with The Hoboken Girl they’re planning on opening the second location closer to December 25.
