Emily Pizza | 35 Downing Street, West Village, NYC
One of the more well-known restaurants in NYC for Detroit-style pizza, Emily was started by a couple (Emily + Matt) originally from Rhode Island. Pizza was the first meal Matt and his wife Emily (duh!) ever shared. Their first spot opened in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, but the most convenient location for Hudson County residents is in the West Village off of the Christopher Street PATH station. Almost all of Emily’s pies are Detroit-style — the most popular being the Arenstein with pepperoni, pickled chili, + honey. The restaurant is also famous for the Emmy Burger served with curly fries (Pat LaFrieda dry-aged beef, EMMY sauce, caramelized onion, American cheese, and pickles on a pretzel bun). Emily was featured on the season finale of the Food Network’s The Flay List with Bobby and Sophie Flay. This restaurant is 100% worth crossing the Hudson to enjoy some real Detroit-style pizza.
Jet’s Pizza | 120 9th Avenue, Chelsea, NYC
