Liberty Psychological Services

Time has painted a rich history on 1426 Willow Avenue in Hoboken, which has seen many storefronts come and go over the years. In the early 2010s, the space was home to Anthony Pino’s (of Anthony David’s) Porter Collins. Then, after its closure in September 2017, Orale Mexican Kitchen, which was best known at the time for its Jersey City sister restaurant, moved into the space a year later. As of July 1st, 2025, Orale has exclusively shared with The Hoboken Girl that the Hoboken location is now closed, leaving space for another business to take its place. Read on for what to know about Orale’s closure in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Orale’s Hoboken Closure

Orale Mexican Kitchen has been a staple in Hudson County since 2013, when it opened its first restaurant in Jersey City at 341 Grove Street. Five years later, the eatery expanded to the Mile Square at 1426 Willow Avenue and became the go-to spot for authentic Mexican eats and drinks with a modern twist.

About Orale

New Jersey locals Louis Alvarez and Alex Mendelsohn first got their start in the restaurant industry at Rosa Mexicano, a Mexican restaurant known for its eateries throughout NYC and the greater area. After years of working there, the duo ventured to open their own restaurant, Orale Mexican Kitchen, in Jersey City, which quickly became a local favorite amongst Chilltown foodies.

At its Morristown and JC restaurants, diners can find Mexican staples, including shrimp ceviche, queso flameado, carolina and barbacoa tacos, as well as innovative Mexican-American fusion dishes such as the barrio burger, barbeque pork nachos, and pork belly bao buns. Orale is also known for its endless guac options and margaritas.
