Hoboken has seen a vintage/thrift shop boom in recent years, and here at The Hoboken Girl, we love to explore each and every one of those shops. One that we keep coming back to is Olijon’s Thrift. Located at 138 Park Avenue in Hoboken, this boutique is redefining what it means to thrift. The space is warm, welcoming, and filled with pieces that feel instantly ‘you.’ From hand-picked designer finds to everyday staples, owner Joann Saitta has an eye for style and a love for Hoboken that have made Olijon’s a local favorite. As the shop approaches its first anniversary this December, it continues to grow its loyal following.. Read on to learn more about OliJon’s Thrift, a thrift shop in Hoboken, New Jersey, that’s changing the pre-loved shopping game.
A Boutique Built on Family, Faith, + Fashion
When owner Joann Saitta first opened Olijon’s Thrift last December, her goal was to create a space that blended fashion, warmth, and authenticity. The shop’s name comes from her children, Olivia and Jonpierre, a simple yet meaningful nod to the family’s values, love, and resilience.
What truly makes Olijon’s special is the experience. The space feels like stepping into a friend’s home (or closet): warm, welcoming, and full of pieces you can’t help but fall in love with. Every item in the shop has been personally selected by Joann herself, from vintage treasures to modern must-haves, with most pieces priced between $1 and $100. Joann also does one-on-one personal styling to help shoppers find pieces that make them feel confident and comfortable.
The heart of Olijon’s isn’t in the product, but the purpose. Before opening last year, Joann was facing serious medical challenges that nearly kept her from opening the shop at all.
Her story goes back more than 15 years, when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. After two years of chemotherapy and radiation, Joann faced lasting complications that changed her life but allowed her to find strength in helping others.
“It’s been a long road, but one filled with faith, gratitude, and resilience,” Joann shared. “I’ve learned how powerful it is to make people feel seen, cared for, and beautiful no matter their budget.” And that’s why part of the store’s mission is to give back, whether through donating proceeds to organizations that help women recover from treatment or supporting those in need of wigs and other essentials. Joann is committed to giving back to others is the backbone of Olijon’s Thrift.
Fashion with Purpose
For Joann, fashion has always been about more than clothes. Her purpose is to help clients find confidence, connection, and community at her shop. At Olijon’s, every piece tells a story and is chosen with intention. With a curated selection of timeless staples, designer picks, and everything in between, Joann prides herself on helping shoppers find something that feels authentically ‘them.’
“My favorite moment is when someone looks in the mirror, smiles, and says, ‘ I never thought I could pull this off,” Joann told The Hoboken Girl. “That’s when I know I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.” She loves finding pieces that make her clients feel confident and completely themselves, and this family-run shop is all about connection.
New arrivals hit the store weekly, so every experience feels fresh and new. Regulars often stop by just to see what’s new or catch up with Joann, whose warmth and eye for detail have made Olijon’s Thrift a place where clients become family. It’s more than shopping. It’s a reminder that fashion can be affordable, personal, and full of heart.
