Crumbl Cookies, a cookie bakery chain with locations in New Jersey, has recently announced that its Jersey City location has permanently closed. Crumbl Cookies in Jersey City Closed + What it Means

Crumbl Cookies is a nationally-known gourmet cookie brand that has over 1000 locations in the United States and North America. Aside from its US locations, there are also two Crumbl outposts in Puerto Rico. It is best known for its freshly-baked cookies, with flavors rotating weekly. The store has a lineup of six different cookies each week — options include tres leches cake, chocolate peanut butter pie, key lime pie cookie, semi-sweet chocolate chunk, chocolate cake batter, wafer featuring Kit Kat®, iced oatmeal, and cookie dough bites. The weekly specials have become a social media favorite, with discussion forums, fan sites, and reviews about the new and upcoming flavors. It has also been known for its numerous celebrity collabs and viral TikToks, so this news in Jersey City comes as somewhat of a surprise.

The Jersey City location at 318 Grove Street was widely anticipated: HG first reported on its opening in July 2024. It opened in February 2025. This marks less than a year of operation for the location, which opened in February of 2025.

As of January 3rd, 2026, the Grove Street location is now shuttered. Details on why the location closed are not available, but it aligns with a nationwide trend of Crumbl locations shutting down: locations in 11 states have closed recently. However, there are still several Crumbl locations for fans in the North Jersey and Jersey Shore areas, including Union, Clark, North Brunswick, and Holmdel. It’s worth noting this comes the same month as national, VC-backed chain Sprinkles Cupcakes announced its permanent closure of all stores.

There is no information on plans for the now-vacant space, but we will update this article as we receive more information.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI) recently released its 2025 evaluation for LGBTQ+ support in American cities. Hoboken achieved a perfect score, indicating the City’s strong support of the LGBTQ+ community. Keep reading for more information on the Municipal Equality Index and Hoboken’s perfect score in LGBTQ+ support.

About the Municipal Equality Index (MEI)

The Municipal Equality Index is released annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) to measure the inclusivity of cities based on their LGBTQ+-oriented laws, services and regulations. Scores are calculated based on criteria such as employment policies, housing, public accommodations, and social protection. HRC sources its information from publicly available data and allows cities to assess their scores before results are released.

Over 500 cities are selected as part of HRC’s studies, based on state capital status, size, hosting of major universities, statistics on same-sex couples, and hand-picked evaluation from the foundation’s team.

The index began tracking data in 2012 and has seen a major increase in city-wide support in recent years. This year, a record-breaking 130 cities earned a perfect score, indicating a massive rise in the support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Hoboken’s Support of the LGBTQ+ Community

The 2025 Municipal Equality Index was recently released, with Hoboken achieving a perfect score. Hoboken has had a 100% score in the MEI for eight years in a row. The city has been immensely progressive in LGBTQ+ acknowledgment and legislation, including the establishment of two LGBTQ+ liaisons, the hosting of supportive events, and the creation of the Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee.

Mayor Bhalla has been vocal in his support of LGBTQ+ resources and advancement, including his signing of an executive order to support LGBTQ+ businesses. Hoboken’s established reputation as an inclusive environment has made it a refuge for members of the community, and the city has shown commitment to protecting LGBTQ+ residents.

Jersey City is buzzing with sights to see and history to take in. The 8th-grade class of Hudson Montessori School has recently launched a community outreach project called “JC Journey”, which teaches people about the city’s rich history through a series of digital guided tours. Keep reading for more information on JC Journey and how the Hudson Montessori School students helped put it together.

About JC Journeys

JC Journeys is a series of digital guided tours that lead participants through Jersey City’s rich culture. From street art to historic landmarks, the project’s interactivity is a great way to embrace the city’s history. Hudson Montessori School created the project as part of its Innovative Community Outreach Project (ICOP) 2025-2026, in which the school’s 8th-grade class formed a team and developed the initiative. The students’ project included creating the series, its website, and multiple guided vocal tours. Vocal tours are guided and speak to users digitally as they walk and experience their surroundings, providing context to their tour.

JC Journeys is a free experience that explores a variety of city sights, including parks, murals, restaurants, monuments, and historical landmarks. Participants can embark on one of four guided tours:

  • The Red Tour, which goes through Jersey City’s Powerhouse + Arts District
  • The Blue Tour, which follows a path through Jersey City’s Downtown
  • The Yellow Tour, which brings participants to Paulus Hook
  • The Green Tour, which explores Liberty State Park

Guided tours range from 30 minutes to 2 hours and use VoiceMap to guide users. VoiceMap uses GPS to detect location and automatically play relevant audio, allowing users to focus on their surroundings rather than their screens. The guided tours start from a fixed point and follow a route to ensure a proper path is followed.

For further information, participants are recommended to contact innovativeproject@hudsonmotessori.net.

Street cleaning has numerous benefits, but it can be frustrating for car owners to manage. Hoboken resident Brian Hasenstab felt this way after attempting to find parking for his car while he was away on vacation and unable to move it for scheduled street cleanings. The challenges motivated him to develop a newly released app, Mile Square Sweeping, to track parking schedules. Keep reading to learn about Brian’s app and how it can help Hoboken residents avoid street cleaning tickets.

About Mile Square Sweeping

Mile Square Sweeping is an iPhone application that tracks Hoboken’s street cleaning schedule and parking events. It was developed by resident Brian Hasenstab, who became interested in creating a parking app for the city after dealing with inconveniences on Hoboken’s street cleaning website. Brian, who is a software engineer by trade, saw it as an opportunity to keep his skills sharp and benefit the community in the process.

“I just wanted a way to help make it just a little easier for residents to be able to navigate what streets are available to park on,” Brian told The Hoboken Girl. “I’m hoping it could save people from a couple of tickets.”

Brian has designed Mile Square Sweeping to provide organized information on street cleaning schedules, parking availability on your street, and where open parking can be found. It includes a map with visual markers and a search function to locate information on specific streets. Brian is also working on additional features for the app in the future, including a list of available parking garages, alerts on streets with temporary no-parking, notifications on street closures, and a customizable reminder to move your car. An Android version is also under development and will include the same features as the iOS version.

The app is free to download on the App Store and requires iOS 26.0 or later.

The holidays are a season of giving, and Michele Farrell, a Hoboken local, has embraced this message by leading a gift bag drive for teenage girls in foster care. The Hoboken Girl chatted with Michele to learn about her work and its importance during this time of year. Keep reading to learn about Michele’s initiative and how to get involved this holiday season.

Michele’s Story

Michele Farrell is a Hoboken resident, Broker Associate at Liberty Realty, and the founder of Wanderlust Marrakech: Insider Retreats, where she plans and curates trips to Morocco. During the holiday season, Michele leads an annual gift bag drive for teenage girls in foster care. This initiative began when she was connected with the director of Hudson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a nonprofit organization that advocates for children in foster care. Michele organizes these drives with Women Entrepreneurs Connection, a group she started for women entrepreneurs in Hoboken.

Michele embraces what these drives create for the community and has made them a vital part of her work during the holidays. “This is such a special project that creates memories for the girls, and I know that CASA looks forward to our participation every year,” Michele told HG.

About the Gift Bag Drive

‘We assemble the gift bags and give them to CASA for distribution,” Michele explained. The gift bags are delivered directly to the girls in foster care, and consist of a $25 gift card (preferably VISA, Target, or Sephora) and items a teenage girl would love, such as lip gloss, skincare products, and hair accessories. Last year, Michele enjoyed a great turnout at the drive, with nearly 80 bags collected. The drive has brought great joy to the participants who contribute, with one CASA volunteer fondly recollecting her exchange with one of the teenage girls.

“She squealed in delight at her gift bag of makeup and skin care products … for a moment, she shed her tough skin,” the CASA volunteer told Michele. “I thank [the women] for donating your time, money, and energy into creating special memories for girls and bolstering their self-esteem.”

Michele and the WEC team are currently accepting donations and will be finalizing them by December 5th. To receive more details or drop off a bag, contact michelefarrellgroup@gmail.com. Appreciated items include:

  • A $25 gift card (preferably VISA, Target, or Sephora)
  • Lip gloss
  • Skincare products
  • Hair accessories
