It wouldn’t be another week in Hoboken and Jersey City without new businesses announcing plans to open, signage going up for incoming spots, or online rumors about what types of businesses could be coming to town. The Hoboken Girl was made aware of several new spots coming to town this week in the form of a NYC-based coffee shop, a NYC-based bagel shop, and a new pilates studio from a local trainer. Read on for what we know so far about Blank Street Coffee, Pop-Up Bagels, and TZR Studio coming to Hoboken and Jersey City, New Jersey.

A Hoboken Girl reader spotted signage for Blank Street Coffee at 101 Hudson Street in Jersey City this week. The Brooklyn-based coffee chain started in 2020 and now has locations in NYC, Washington D.C., Massachusetts and internationally in England and Scotland. A Jersey City location would be the brand’s first Garden State address. The HG team has reached out to Blank Street for more information and this piece will be updated with any further information. A new location of local sandwich shop Milburn Deli also has plans to open in the same building later this year.

A New Jersey location of Pop-Up Bagels would complete the Tri-State trifecta for this bagel shop, which has roots in Connecticut. There are Pop-Up locations in NYC, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Pop-Up Bagels are available by pre-order and the shop serves up special flavors of cream cheese that change weekly. The Pop-Up Bagels team confirmed with HG that they are looking for a space nearby in Hoboken or Jersey City.

Mystery signage went up at 113 14th Street in Hoboken this week, drawing speculation online. The HG team did some sleuthing and can confirm that the space is the home of incoming fitness studio TZR Studio, founded by Hoboken trainer Chelsea McCloskey. Chelsea told HG, “[we] will bring a high-end, educated, and fully comprehensive Pilates experience like this town has never seen before. Our goal is not only to be inclusive but to finally offer a space that you can get the individualized attention you deserve to get the results you’re looking for.” Chelsea is opening the studio with two other instructors, and is looking to open in June.
